The link to a smarter cleaner future

Innovia’s proud to be partnering with The Ray to present its vision of a united energy and transportation system that’s fit for the future.
Both transport and energy are on the cusp of a dramatic change. As the world continues to shift from a “fossil fuel on demand” model to using more stored renewables, a total renovation of infrastructure is required. Together, The Ray and Innovia have explored how we could get to this future by focusing on an under-utilized resource – the road.

We’re bringing together three big ideas:

1. Land along the right of way is nonarable and state-owned. It could be used to generate clean, renewable electricity.

2. This energy could be used to charge electric vehicles on the interstate through fast-chargers or wireless charging lanes.

3. The interstate system could be the backbone of a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) grid, allowing efficient and resilient delivery of renewable energy across the country.
